The standard sports stadium is set up so that seat number 1 is closer to the preceding section. For example seat 1 in section "5" would be on the aisle next to section "4" and the highest seat number in section "5" would be on the aisle next to section "6". For theaters and amphitheaters (i.e. venues that don't have sections around the entire stage) seat numbers follow a different logic.
